ART JOURNALING for Women

What is art journaling?

It's expressing yourself visually with images and words using collage, paint, color. It's not just about making "pretty" or "perfect". And we don't make mistakes -- we have Happy Accidents.

I started art journaling 17 years ago when my son was born. I found out I couldn't travel as a working actor and leave the baby at home, but I {desperately} needed a creative outlet. I found art journaling to be a therapeutic, affordable, and portable way to express myself.

I've been teaching in schools, shops, and out of my home studio for years. Children and adults love having the freedom to play and creating community. Art journaling is about the process, not the outcome: we're simply making.

You don't need experience.

You don't have to spend a lot of money.

You can take it with you anywhere.

You'll get your creative self going again, plus you'll also connect with a caring group of like-minded people!

Back in the day, women gathered around the quilting table to share their lives. Now, especially after a year of quarantining and social distancing, most of our connection to others is electronic -- through emails, texts, and social media. Let's gather around the big table, lay down our burdens, reconnect, and play with art supplies.

Art Journaling classes were created for women to form a community of strong, brave souls that keep showing up for themselves and each other.

Classes for adult women meet LIVE, once a month in South Pasadena, California, guided by Emily Cline. We are careful in our connections and follow privacy and health care guidelines.

To be clear: these are not product based classes; they are process. You're not going to leave with a beautiful drawing of a bowl of the countryside or a bowl of fruit. You will, however, walk out relaxed, rejuvenated, and more closely connected to a yourself and an amazing group of strong, supportive women.

The community created here is nonjudgemental and deeply inspiring! These classes are full of healing, feel-good-ness and M&M's.
